Cherokee Speedway Gains Childress And
Adair As Promoters For The 2017 Race Season
After several months of rumors and
speculation, I can now announce that Cherokee Speedway will be under the
management of promoters Scott Childress and Tony Adair during the 2017
My family and I have owned and operated Cherokee Speedway since 2002.
After many hours of careful thinking, debating we have ultimately made the
decision to lease the Speedway in 2017.
We would not lease to anyone that we felt would not meet the Cherokee
Speedway expectations along with those of our fans, teams. It is because
of those very fans, and teams that we have been able and had the desire to
put on races every Saturday night.
We understand the weekly toll, both financial and physically that racing
requires from you guys. We also realize that the fans that have chosen to
come through those gates make sacrifices of sorts each week to support
their drivers, and the track. Whether you came through the gates one time
or every week, we want you all to know it is appreciated and we couldn't
have done it without you.
To the staff of Cherokee Speedway over the last 15 years, I want you all
to know that I have enjoyed working side by side with you all. It takes an
entire team to put on a show from preparing the track, to selling tickets,
taking care of the concessions each of you are thought very highly of by
not only me but my entire family. We want to say thanks to each of you.
I love Cherokee Speedway and I will never be far away, actually I am sure
that I will be here at the track several times a week and on most race
days, especially early on during the year just to help make the transition
as smooth as possible for everyone. However, the not being here 50 hours a
week will allow time for me to spend with my family and even allow me to
do some racing of my own while I still can.
I never thought I would see this day happen, and while I am sad, at the
same time I am excited to see what Scott and Tony can bring to Cherokee
Speedway in 2017, they will have more information in the following weeks.
From my entire family we thank each and every one of you for 15 solid
years of outpouring support.
